Weather report from Hell: Man, it’s getting cold down here. In other news, Rational is lowering prices for 6 months.
My memory isn’t what it used to be, but the last time I recall a discount being offered on automated testing tools was 1995. That was back before IBM, back before Rational, in the days of SQA. (For the uninitiated, SQA was the company that Rational acquired in 1997, that provided Robot and Test Manager. IBM subsequently acquired Rational in 2003.) Back then, I recall a special promotion where there was a 20% discount on licenses. The only reason I remember that is because I was a customer, and bought in on the deal. I’m glad we did.
More than 14 years later, I guess it’s time for a second sale! Yesterday, IBM Rational announced a discount of 25% on competitive trades ups. Basically, if you’re using a test tool other than IBM Rational Functional Tester, IBM Rational Performance Tester or IBM Rational Quality Manager, such as HP Mercury Quick Test Professional, or HP Mercury Load Runner – you can trade up to Rational tools at a 25% discount. Get in on this deal now – it could be another 14 years before you see anything like it again.
